The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Staff Scientist with experience in metabolic research to start September 1, 2022, or after agreement.
Our research
CBMR is a vibrant international research environment with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration. Our researchers share a common purpose as they seek to transform the basic understanding of the mechanisms involved in metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies. The Center’s research has resulted in seminal discoveries as to how genes, hormones, and environmental factors influence metabolic health and disease throughout life. Our group and research
The goal is to use metabolomics approaches to study the role of metabolites and lipids in metabolism. By using mass spectrometry-based methods we can screen for 100s to 1000s compounds or target specific compounds in different biological systems. We hope to be able to uncover the basic role of metabolites in metabolism and their role in developing diseases. Read more about the grouphere.
Your job:
A staff scientist position is available in the Moritz group. The work includes supporting staff with sample preparation and mass spectrometry analysis in various biological sample matrices for so-called metabolomics and lipidomics analysis, preparing standard compounds and calibration curves for the mass spectrometry analysis. In addition, the position will involve responsibility for organizing standard compounds and samples at the platform. The position includes close contacts with Staff at the metabolomics platform.

Place of employment
The place of employment is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of salary and employment
The employment as research assistant is a permanent position. Starting date is September 1, 2022.
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications.

Your profile:
Essential criteria:
- Master’s degree in biological sciences-related discipline
- The applicant must have extensive practical experience with laboratory work.
- Knowledge in quality assessment.
- Excellent skills in documentation of laboratory work
- Experiences in electronic lab note work
- Sample preparation for metabolite/metabolomics analysis
- Experience in quantitative liquid-chromatography – mass spectrometry analysis
- Experience in using sample liquid handling robot
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English is a requirement
