We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a 2-year position to commence January 1, 2024.

The postdoc project will focus on elucidating the role of B cells in allergic contact dermatitis.

The project will be conducted in collaboration with the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF), Davos, Switzerland, where the postdoc will be posted.

Our research
You will be employed at the T Cell Biology and Skin Inflammation group https://sic.ku.dk/research/t-cell-biology-and-skin-inflammation/ Our main research interests are inflammatory skin diseases with emphasis on allergic contact dermatitis and crosstalk between different types of immune cells and keratinocytes.

Your job
Your task will be to provide new knowledge on the role of B cells in the pathogenesis of allergic contact dermatitis and/or in the tolerance to contact allergens. You will investigate the phenotype and functionality B cells isolated from allergic and tolerant patients using state-of-the-art technologies such as Olink proximity extension assay (PEA), single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA seq) and by ex vivo 3D-skin models (GenoSkin).

Profile
We are looking for a scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in immunology (preferably skin immunology and/or allergy)
  • You are highly experienced in planning, conducting and analysing in vivo and in vitro research experiments
  • You have experience in confocal microscopy, flow cytometric analysis and ELISA
  • You have an active interest in building work-relationships with international co-workers
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work both alone and in teams
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience using R software
  • Experience analysing scRNA seq data
  • Experience with publishing in high-impact peer-review journals


Place of employment

The place of employment is at the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center (SIC), Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. You will be posted at SIAF, Davos, Switzerland. The project will be supervised by Professor Charlotte Menné Bonefeld (SIC) and Professor, MD Mübeccel Akdis (SIAF). Professor M. Akdis group is world-leading in research focussing on B cells in immune tolerance and allergy. They offer a highly creative and stimulating working research environment. The facilities at SIAF include modern state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment necessary for the proposed project.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years. The starting date is January 1, 2024.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 35,000 DKK/approx. 4,700 EUR (October 2021 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
