København N
We are searching for a skilled molecular geneticist with flair for bioinformatics with specific interest in investigating the underlying mechanisms of clonal hematopoiesis and mosaic chromosomal aberrations in a large population-based cohort.
Our research/The group
The focus of the Grønbæk group is Translational Hematology. The group is affiliated with both Biotech Research and Innovation centre (BRIC), University of Copenhagen and Rigshospitalet (Central Copenhagen University Hospital).
The current position is part of the current project: AGE-RELATED DISEASES: CAUSES, MECHANISMS AND CONSEQUENCES OF MUTATED BLOOD CELLS WITH MULTIPLE ABERRATIONS
The overall aim of the project is to identify ”high risk” clonal hematopoiesis (CH), to identify the drivers of CH and understand the mechanisms of clonal growth and to identify non-toxic drugs that may control this growth. This will form the basis for prospective clinical trials on disease prevention.
We have access to a large cohort 500.000 Danes characterized by existing SNP arrays. This is being analysed for mosaic chromosomal aberrations. In a subset of these, we will implement a high through-put analyses of the 8 most common CHIP mutations to establish a cohort with high-risk CH for interventional trials. All data will be aligned with germline genetics and Danish health registry data.
Our location at the Copenhagen Biocentre/BRIC provides optimal conditions for interaction with the basic scientists at the Finsen laboratory and BRIC. The group currently consists of 11 scientists, MD/scientists and students, one research coordinator, 2 research nurses and 2 laboratory technicians.
Your job
We are searching for a skilled molecular geneticist who is very interactive and enjoys collaborations with other scientists – including younger scientists and clinician scientists.
Your tasks will include:
Start: September 1st 2024 or after agreement
Duration: 2 years
Qualifications
We expect you to be a highly motivated and highly ambitious, independent scientist with the following qualifications:
