We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Teaching Assistant Professor in Gastrointestinal Biochemistry for a part-time position (limited to 3 years, 7,4 hours per week). This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our vibrant academic community and shape the next generation of medical doctors.

Our research and educational activities
The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMI) is an interdisciplinary department. Our research is translational and placed in the cross-field between basic health research and the clinic/industry. The researchers at the Department of Biomedical Sciences carry out research-based, clinically relevant undergraduate teaching and supervision at several study programmes at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. We offer relevant pedagogical training in the teaching in Higher Education Programme.

Your job
You will contribute to teaching and course development in various ways:

  • You will deliver engaging seminars and laboratory training related to gastrointestinal biochemistry.
  • You will partake in further development of course materials, including online resources, based on real-world patient cases.
  • With our focus on contemporary teaching approaches and blended learning environments, you will collaborate with faculty members to enhance an interactive learning environment that encourages student engagement, student-centred learning and critical thinking.
  • You will encourage student engagement in research activities and potentially contribute to relevant research projects.


Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in Biochemistry, Human Biology, Medicine or a related field.
  • You have prior experience in teaching biochemistry or related subjects at the university level, ideally in the medical curriculum.
  • You have relevant professional experience, e.g. through previous positions, within clinical biochemistry.
  • You have excellent communication skills and can readily adapt to different target groups.
  • You thrive with working in teams.
  • You are highly interested in contemporary pedagogy and didactics.
  • Proficiency in Danish and English.

Desirable experience and skills:

  • History of publications within one of the Department’s research themes (https://bmi.ku.dk/english/research/)


Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 7,4 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 3 years. Start date is 1 October 2024 or after agreement.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary at 7,4 hours per week starts at 8,120 DKK/approx. 1,080 EUR (April 2024 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

The further process
