We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a 2-year part-time position, to commence as soon as possible or after agreement. The position is available at the Cardiac Physiology Laboratory at the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
The position will incorporate hands-on work with translational research and in-vivo modelling of cardiovascular diseases and supervision of bachelor/master/PhD students.

Our research
Our primary research focus is investigating how cardiac arrhythmias emerge due to electrical and structural remodeling. We are an interdisciplinary group of both basic science researchers who collectively aim to elucidate cardiac electrophysiology and structural remodeling with a specific focus on ion channels, inflammatory pathways and their associated proteins and functions. In certain in- and ex-vivo disease models, we utilize different molecular, biochemical, pharmacological and electrophysiological investigations in order to understand how disease states affect the mechanical and electrical function of the heart. Our goal is to incorporate basic science findings with findings from our clinical counterparts and collaborators in order to provide a holistic understanding of cardiac arrhythmias and eventually improving clinical outcome of patients with arrhythmias.
Your job
As our future colleague, you should inspire team work and expresses clear communicational and leader ship skills. You will be mainly responsible for assisting in existing in-vivo simulation of cardiovascular diseases and potentially establish novel approaches. Aside from hands-on work, your tasks will include supervising bachelor/master/PhD students, assisting in project management and writing research manuscripts.

Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer friendly, highly inspiring and interdisciplinary working environment and our research facilities include modern laboratories and infrastructure for both in-vitro, ex-vivo and in-vivo animal experiments.
Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 7,4 hours per week.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years. The starting date is as soon as possible.
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary at 7,4 hours per week starts at 8,120 DKK/approx. 1,080 EUR (April 2024 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

- You have a PhD in cardiovascular science or similar
- You are highly experienced in working with large animal models
- You have hands-on experience in working with porcine cardiac models
- You have an active interest in cardiac electrophysiology
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
- Excellent English skills written and spoken
- Experience in writing and publishing research manuscripts
Desirable experience and skills:
- 5 or more first authorships in Pub-med listed journals
- Experience of oral presentations at international research conferences
- Experience as a reviewer in Pub-med listed journals
- Experience in working with clinical collaborators
