We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a 18 months position to commence 1 January 2025.

Our research
Our research are centered on human endogenous retroviruses and the role they play in cellular senescence, endocrinological and metabolic disorders.

About the Project:Hervolution Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in cell biology and RNA sequencing (RNAseq) to join our innovative research project, "The HERV Solution." This project aims to map human endogenous retrovirus (HERV) transcripts in blood samples to understand and predict the progression of neuroendocrine tumors. The insights gained from this analysis have far-reaching implications and can be applied to other organ systems and pathologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a workflow for processing of samples with enrichment of HERV signals for sequencing analysis.
  • Collaborate with clinical partners at Herlev Hospital and bioinformatics specialists at the University of Cagliari.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative diagnostic strategies aimed at understanding HERVs in human disease.
  • Prepare and present research findings in scientific publications and conferences.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong background in cell biology and molecular techniques.
  • Experience with RNA sequencing and data analysis
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills and a track record of scientific publications.

Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and access to animal facilities, advanced microscopy, flow cytometry and sequencing facilities.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 18 months. The starting date is 1 January 2025 or as soon as possible hereafter.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 38,500 DKK/approx. 5,100 EUR (April 2024 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

The further process
