The Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA) invites applications for one postdoctoral fellowship in astroparticle physics. The appointment is for a period of two years, starting in Fall 2020. The NBIA is an independent centre of excellence hosted by the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) and functions as the primary centre of fundamental research in the physical sciences and mathematics.
The astroparticle physics group at NBI (http://nbia.nbi.ku.dk/astropart/) has a broad interest, studying the interfaces between astrophysics, cosmology, and fundamental physics. The successful applicant is expected to conduct research in multi-messenger astrophysics with a focus on high-energy neutrino emission and its observation in present and future neutrino telescopes. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong analytical skills, who have previous experience in the modelling of high-energy multi-messenger sources, such as gamma-ray bursts or starburst galaxies, and the observation as well as analysis of multi-messenger data. A close collaboration with the NBI IceCube group (http://icecube.nbi.ku.dk) is also required.
Postdoctoral Fellows receive a competitive salary (including pension) and funds for travel and computing. Generous parental leave, state-subsidised childcare, vacation, and full medical care are provided to employees in Denmark. A favourable tax scheme is generally granted to international researchers.
The University of Copenhagen wishes to reflect the diversity of society and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background. The primary criterion for the evaluation of candidates is the excellence of their research.
To guarantee full consideration applications should be received before 15.05, 2020.
