Centre of Excellence for Health, Immunity and Infections (CHIP), Rigshospitalet
We are looking for a full‐time biostatistician with strong epidemiological skills to support a number of ongoing cohort studies at CHIP, Department of Infectious Diseases at Rigshospitalet (https://chip.dk/). CHIP is an integral part of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Rigshospitalet. CHIP was founded in 1998 to plan and execute clinical research of excellence on therapies for infectious diseases in general and for HIV in particular. CHIP has an extensive international collaboration with a track record of cutting- edge clinical research, both cohort and controlled trials.
EuroSIDA is a prospective observational cohort study following adult people living with HIV (PLHIV). The study aims to follow the long-term clinical prognosis for the general population of HIV-positive people living in Europe and to assess the impact of antiretroviral drugs on these people. Initiated in 1994, the EuroSIDA study marked its 25th anniversary in 2019 and continues to expand in multiple ways. Being an observational study, the type of data collected has diversified tremendously since the start, as advances in the medical management of HIV has allowed for PLHIV to foresee a good life prognosis.
The aim of the International Cohort Consortium of Infectious Disease (RESPOND) is to build an innovative, flexible and dynamic cohort consortium for the study of infectious diseases, including HIV and people at risk for HIV, as a generic structure for facilitating multi stakeholder involvement. This consortium builds upon the outstanding collaborative work in HIV cohort studies, including EuroSIDA. Similar to RESPOND, the CARE (Common Action against HIV/TB/HCV across the Regions of Europe) project expands on previously established European cohort networks and combines extensive existing data collections and knowledge. The overall objective of CARE is to combat the HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and hepatitis C (HCV) epidemics across the European Region with a specific focus on the Russian Federation, Georgia and Ukraine.
Using data from these cohorts you will work together with key researchers to address clinical research questions. Analytic techniques such as time to event analyses using Poisson regression or Cox proportional hazards models, linear regression and logistic regression will be commonly used to analyse the longitudinal data. Although the data sets are large including complex real world data collected over many years, the analytic skills required are those of someone with a keen interest in epidemiology as well as using statistical techniques to answer clinically relevant questions. Examples of ongoing projects include assessing the tolerability and treatment efficacy of new and existing antiviral viral therapies in the treatment of PLHIV or identifying factors associated with the successful treatment of HCV with direct acting antiviral (DAA) therapy.
Duties of the post
You will be part of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics team at CHIP who work in close collaboration with a collaborating team of biostatisticians based at University College London (UCL). You will be responsible for biostatistical analyses and are expected to contribute to the design and analysis of research studies.
In addition, you will be expected to:
Qualification requirements
