The Niels Bohr Institute, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD scholarship in theoretical high-energy physics commencing 1 August 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Description of the scientific environment
The Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology group and the Niels Bohr International Academy, located at the Niels Bohr Institute, are involved in a wide range of research activities in theoretical high-energy physics, centered around quantum theories of gauge fields, gravity, cosmology and astro-particle physics. The most active research areas include modern approaches to scattering amplitudes, the gauge-gravity correspondence and the use of integrability to find exact solutions in strongly coupled quantum field theories. Weekly seminars and journal clubs as well as several workshops and conferences per year provide a stimulating research environment and excellent integration into the wider international community.

Project description
Applicants should have a solid background in quantum field theory, string theory and the gauge-gravity duality. The precise project within the aforementioned most active research areas will be formulated in collaboration between the successful candidate, the principal supervisor and the co-supervisor.

Principal supervisor isDr. Matthias Wilhelm, Niels Bohr Institute, [email protected]. Co-supervisor is Prof. Dr. Charlotte Kristjansen, Niels Bohr Institute, [email protected]
