We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher for a full time Research Assistant position at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Copenhagen. The position is open from 1st of January 2024or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is limited in time to 12 months.
The mission of Department of Pharmacy is to advance the pharmaceutical sciences by performing drug-related research and research-based teaching. This happens within a range of topics including pharmaceutical technology and formulation, drug delivery, advanced drug analysis and clinical and social pharmacy. Department of Pharmacy emphasizes further development of internationally recognized programs of research and education. We are committed to serve the Danish society and the international scientific community with the Department's knowledge.

Job description
The position is embedded in the Research group CNS drug delivery and barrier modelling (https://pharmacy.ku.dk/research/cns-drug-delivery-barrier-modelling/). The main focus of the CNSBM group is to make new approaches for drug delivery to the brain. There have been a marked increase in diagnosed brain diseases over the last decades, however new technologies for brain drug delivery are lacking behind. We are addressing this issue by making advanced BBB models based on primary cell lines and human stem cells, and use these models to investigate drug delivery mechanisms. The candidate will participate in our work in the IM2PACT consortium, a consortium under the IMI initiative.
The successful candidate will support the researchers in the group and international network of collaborators. Your research tasks will be to independently, with reference to researchers in the group, design experiments, conduct experimental studies, perform data analysis and write scientific manuscripts.

The place of employment is at Department of Pharmacy, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and access to state of the art equipment at University of Copenhagen core facilities.
Terms of employment
The employment as Research Assistant is a full time and fixed-term position for 12 months. Starting date is Jan 1st 2024 or after agreement.
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Currently, the monthly salary starts at 31.147 DKK/ approx. 4.176 Euro (estimated October 2023 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of June 28, 2013.

- You have an MSc in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences
- You are experienced in primary cell culture, stem cell culture and BBB modeling
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
Desirable experience and skills:
- Experience with radioactive tracer studies and immunohistochemistry
- Experience with molecular biology techniques and transporter biology.
