København S

Do you have experience with whole genome sequencing and interpretation of genetic analysis in a clinical setting? And are you interested in helping to develop a national interpretation platform for the Danish healthcare system? Then you may be the clinical scientist, we are looking for.

About the Danish National Genome Center
The Danish National Genome Center (DNGC) is a government agency under the Ministry of Health. The Center has a responsibility to support the development of personalised medicine in collaboration with the Danish healthcare system, research institutions, patient associations etc. DNGC develops and operates Denmark's national infrastructure for personalised medicine. The infrastructure consists of a National Whole Genome Sequencing Center and a National High Performance Computing Center (supercomputer system), which is supplemented by a national genome database and variant database.

You can find more information about the Danish National Genome Center here: www.ngc.dk.

About the position
The newly created position is a unique opportunity for an ambitious, clinical scientist with an interest in precision diagnostics and medicine, who would like to work in an exciting, interdisciplinary environment close to the clinical collaborators.

You will be part of a team of competent colleagues with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to future activities in precision medicine. You will, among other things, have contact with the clinical environments in the regions in order to map needs and plan the design of the infrastructure, which DNGC will provide. You will be involved in planning and defining further development and implementation of software for the interpretation of genetic variants, as well as identifying needs for the development of other tools for variant interpretation and classification. Additional tasks include implementation of relevant software and tools for interpreting genetic data and classifying genetic variants.

Furthermore, as part of DNGC, you will also have a support function for DNGC's users of the platform for interpretation. You will thus have a crucial role in supporting the clinical departments that will use DNGC's platform for interpreting whole genome sequencing analyses.

Professional qualifications
We are looking for a motivated candidate with a relevant academic education such as an MSc in molecular biology, bioinformatics, genetics, molecular medicine or the like. In addition, we emphasise that the candidate has:

  • Experience with human genetic analysis
  • Experience with interpretation of genetic analysis, preferably from a clinical environment
  • Overview and knowledge of clinical knowledge bases
  • Overview and knowledge of data processing in relation to whole genome sequencing
  • Experience with data processing from whole genome sequencing analysis.

In addition, we emphasise that you as a person are cooperative and can create lasting collaborative relationships across cultural, professional and geographical boundaries. Our everyday life is versatile and fast-paced in a new government agency under construction, where two days rarely resemble each other.

We offer
We offer an exciting position in a dynamic organisation with focus on the patient, research, innovation and high professionalism. Competency development is an integral part of our organisation, and if you can see yourself in the position, you will join a pioneering journey to the next levels in personalised medicine.

Terms of employment
Salary and appointment terms will be based on the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC) (overenskomst for akademikere i staten).

Depending on your academic qualifications and experience there is a possibility of being classified as a special or senior consultant according to appendix 4 "protocol concerning special- and senior consultants" (Protokollat om specialkonsulenter og chefkonsulenter).

The position is a full-time position, however a part-time position will be an option if desired.

The Danish National Genome Center is located on Ørestads Boulevard in Copenhagen. The position is located at the head office, however with the possibility of placement in our WGS Center's facilities in Aarhus.
