AGC Biologics delivers biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing of Drug Bulk Intermediates/Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients for both clinical studies as well as for the global market.
The position
You will be part of a scientist team within the mammalian manufacturing department consisting of approximately 22 highly skilled upstream and downstream scientists.
As a senior upstream scientist, you will take responsibility for complex technical assignments and optimizations relating to upstream production. You will help your colleagues on more complex process challenges including designing and upscaling upstream processes for our large scale, single use, manufacturing facility. You will plan every step from thaw of vials, expansion in shake flasks and cultibags, to fed batch and perfusion processes in 500- and 2000L scale. This to a high extent using state of the art single use equipment.
Your responsibility will include support to daily production and associated processes like preparing for manufacturing, preparing and reviewing batch documentation, and participating in customer meetings. Together with the team you will be responsible for delivering final formulated product, and to secure a high quality batch documentation in close collaboration with QC/QA.
Experience and competencies
The candidate we are looking for has:
- A master degree within science e.g. engineering, chemical engineer, biotechnology or similar
- Minimum 5 years of work experience manufacturing mammalian cell based products
- Experience with Perfusion/ATF and DeltaV experience is a plus
- Technical capabilities and are able to support technical problem solving in production
- Extensive experience with working in a GMP environment
- Project management skills is a plus, but not a requirement
- Fluency in English, written and verbal
- LEAN oriented
As a person, you have a positive mindset; have flexibility and a desire to take on the role and responsibilities as lead upstream scientist. You strive in a dynamic environment where sudden changes may occur, so it is important that you can cope with such uncertainties. You are a good team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
