Are you passionate about leading and maturing research drug projects within Novo Nordisk´s diverse and expanding R&D pipeline across many therapeutic areas? Global Drug Discovery seeks a new colleague to our team of dedicated and experienced Research Project Directors/Project Vice Presidents to lead new and ongoing research drug projects.

About the department
The department, “Project & Alliance Management”, manages the research project portfolio and the external alliances across all therapeutic areas in Novo Nordisk. We are a team of 16 colleagues, most of us based in Måløv, Denmark. As a team, we all have extensive experience from the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

We develop “fit for purpose” project plans for our portfolio of innovative research projects by employing best practice within project management and working closely with stakeholders across the global Novo Nordisk organisation. The job reports directly to the Corporate VP of Projects & Alliance Management

The position
You will have a key role in driving research projects toward their transition into the clinical development phase. We engage in the drug research projects from the period leading up to establishment of a research project (Milestone 0), and we stay with the projects until a suitable time point between selection of the Development Candidate and submission of the IND/CTA. Your main task is to lead the identification of a clinical development candidate and mature it towards a clinical development. You will head multiple disciplinary research teams, which are directed via a smaller core team under your leadership and responsibility. Besides driving innovative research results, you will also work with colleagues from the entire Research and Development organisation as well as the commercial planning area to design the project strategies and plans. IPR strategies, project planning and budgeting are of course key elements of the job. You will secure that the project strategies are executed in alignment with governance and cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications

You hold a MSc/Ph.D. within natural science and extensive pharma experience. You have a broad understanding across the pharmaceutical value chain, including but not limited to science, pharmacology, protein engineering, CMC, IPR, clinical development, market access and commercial aspects.

Professional competencies and experience:

  • Documented experience in successful project management
  • Solid knowledge of the drug development and life cycle management process
  • Thorough understanding of the R&D value chain and the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in international research collaborations
  • Experience with project planning tools and processes
  • International mindset


You have excellent people, collaboration and communication skills and a strong ability to create winning teams. You have a proactive and visible leadership style and you can create overview and set clear direction while solving complex tasks. You display a high level of personal engagement, drive, independence and integrity.
