About the Department

At Novo Nordisk you will work in the Cultivation Technologies Department, a part of the Up- and Downstream Technologies area. The department deals primarily with mammalian- and microbial cell cultivation in stirred bioreactors. We collaborate closely with several stakeholders across the R&D area to provide research projects with protein productions enabling lead compound selection and furthermore validate the initial cell clone and develop the initial cultivation process for dose range finding batch production and transfer to our CMC organization. We use state-of-the-art cultivation equipment and are continuously developing and applying new cultivation, monitoring and automation methodologies.

The Position

Your main responsibility will be to develop and test cultivation methodologies to improve our mammalian cell-based protein production platform in a cross organizational project. Therefore, an important part of the job will be to communicate and discuss the results with stakeholders across the interdisciplinary project. You are expected to be able to work independently hands-on in the laboratory alongside technicians and other fellow scientists.

The position is for a duration of 2-years as Associate Scientist or Research Scientist depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

The main qualification is as mentioned below:

  • MSc or PhD within bioprocess engineering or other relevant education preferably with experience from the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Hands on experience with stirred bioreactors for mammalian cultivation.
  • Understanding of cultivation process intensification i.e. ATF-perfusion.
  • Experience with MFCSwin.
  • Knowledge of integrated continuous processes is desired e.g. end-to-end processes.
  • Knowledge within spectroscopic technology and analysis i.e. Raman.
  • Programming and scripting skills (e.g. Python).
  • Curios and self-driven personality, with a positive attitude towards challenges and who thrives in an informal working environment.
