Do you want to play a significant role in development, qualification and transfer of analytical methods for cutting edge stem cell therapies? Then this job will be just right for you. The department is growing and we are looking for multiple new colleagues. Come and join us!

About the department

The department Stem Cell Process Development is part of Novo Nordisk’s newly established Stem Cell R&D unit, where we develop novel cell replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases. Our department focuses on the development of manufacturing processes and related analysis. We control processes across the entire pluripotent stem cell workflow, starting with cell line derivation and ending with an efficacious and well-characterised cell therapy product. Diabetes mellitus type 1, Parkinson’s disease and chronic heart failure are only a few of the indications we are currently working on. You will join an international and dedicated group of currently around 35 employees, including scientists, project leaders, laboratory technicians and student workers. We have expertise in bioprocess development, stem cell biology, analytics and GMP compliance and truly believe that stem cell therapies will make a difference in the lives of patients. If this awakens your interest, please apply and support us in translating stem cell products into the clinics.

The positions

The development of robust product characterization methods to track and monitor cells as they differentiate is vitally important to bring safe cell therapy products to the market. For this purpose, we need several new employees to join our analytical team. They will develop and qualify various in vitro assays to characterize undifferentiated pluripotent stem cells, intermediate cell types as they proceed through various differentiation trajectories, as well as their terminally differentiated derivatives.

If you have an interest in analytical development, CMC and possess one or more of the competences listed under ‘Qualifications’ below, perhaps you are the new colleague we are looking for. Your qualifications and prior experience will determine the position entry level (principal scientist, senior scientist, scientist or associate scientist) as well as precise responsibilities within the team. You are expected to work closely together with technicians and fellow scientists and should expect hands-on laboratory work. For an associate scientist hands-on laboratory work will be daily, while a senior scientist might be more ad hoc. You should enjoy analysing, interpreting and discussing scientific data with your colleagues and have a drive to take responsibility for your own projects and progress.

Our department strives to automate routine analysis tasks and we would like you to join this initiative. Overall, you deliver high quality data and results in a timely manner to internal stakeholders in all your tasks.

Qualifications

With multiple open positions we hope to identify several candidates that together compliment the competences currently needed in the team. The more competences covered the better, however, it may be that although you only check a few of the listed competences, you might still be the right candidate for us. Also, if you possess other relevant competences than those listed, please include this in your application.

List of relevant competences:

  • Hands on experience in analytical methods related to cell culture evaluation (Flow cytometry, qPCR, ELISA, NanoString to name a few)
  • Analytical development
  • Optimizing assays
  • Qualifying analytical methods according to GMP guidelines
  • Reporting of analytical development activities
  • Stem cell culture and biology
  • Designing and running stability studies
  • CMC experience
  • Experience within statistics e.g. Design of Experiments (DoE)
  • Writing CTAs and other health authority related applications
  • Technology transfer of analytical methods between research-CMC-manufacture
  • Process development
  • Robotics/automation - in relation to increasing analytical throughput
  • Practical experience with stem cell culture systems
  • RNA/DNA expression analysis
  • Genome engineering
  • Project management/coordinating skills
