A position as professor/clinical professor in genetics of epilepsy (50%) and in combination with clinical / administrative work (50%) is vacant at Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at Filadelfia Epilepsy Hospital, Dianalund respectively. The posts are considered as one entity and the position is limited to a five-year period with possibility of extension.
The professorship/ clinical professorship
The professor/clinical professor will get the overall responsibility for research in the genetics of epilepsy at Filadelfia. The work involves research, professional development, supervision and assessment work in the genetics of epilepsy. Furthermore, the position involves personalized medicine, clinical genetic diagnostics, clinical follow-up of patients diagnosed with genetic defect, identification of new genetic defects associated with epilepsy.
The clinical/administrative part of the position
If the applicant graduated in medicine, he/she will take part in the diagnostic workup on suspicion of genetical defects and will give genetic counselling of patients and families in collaboration with the clinicians (clinical professor).
If the applicant graduated in science, he/she will be responsible for the administration of the routine services of the genetic department. This includes optimisation of services and capacity, collaboration and negotiation with external laboratories and suppliers and being staff manager (professor).
Expectations and qualifications
The preferred candidate will be expected to possess a degree in science or medicine- at least PhD - and must be able to document interest and international research experience in the genetic aspects of epilepsy. The successful candidate has a list of publications revealing involvement in the genetics of epilepsy.
Danish is not required initially, although, should be mastered within the first year of employment.
