Combined positions as clinical professor in psychiatry and as consultant in child and adolescent or in adult psychiatry are vacant at Department of Clinical Research and at the Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at Mental Health Services, The Psychiatric Services in the Region of Southern Denmark.
Mental Health Services has received acknowledgement of high-quality research and education and is part of University Hospital of Southern Denmark.
The positions will be available in Odense and in Esbjerg or at both locations according to agreement. The combined posts are considered as one entity. The positions are limited to a five-year period with the possibility of extension. Allocation of time between the clinical professorship and the consultancy is 50/50%.
The positions may be filled by Clinical Associate Professors, in case there are no applicants qualified for the Clinical Professorships.
The successful candidate will be appointed at the Department of Clinical Research or at the Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, SDU.
The positions will be in clinical psychiatry.
The professor position
In Esbjerg, the new professor will be Head of Research and build up his or her own group of researchers. Funds have been allocated for the start-up of the research department.
In Odense, the new professor will refer to either the Head of Research at Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or Psychiatry depending on the successful applicant’s field of expertise.
The new professor must have a strong record inside the field of child and adolescent or adult psychiatry research. The new professor must ensure that the research unit attracts substantial research funding from external sources in relation to the research program in question.
Research tasks
The successful applicants will be responsible for initiating and developing clinical research in the selected area and implementing the results in close collaboration with the management of the departments. The professors will also be responsible for establishing and expanding research collaboration inside the region, nationally and internationally.
Research supervision and teaching
The applicant will be expected to perform supervisions function for PhD-graduates and teach undergraduate students. Furthermore, the professors will be expected to participate in the teaching and instruction on the new master’s programme in Medicine in Esbjerg from the year 2022.
The clinical position
The consultants will be appointed at Psychiatric Department in either Esbjerg or Odense. The professor and consultant must be a specialist in child and adolescent or in adult psychiatry.
Reference
In clinical and financial matters, the professor/ Head of Research refers to the departmental management. In research matters, he/she refers to the university’s Head of Department through the Head of Research. However, management responsibility may be part of the vacant position.

The applicant will be expected to be qualified in academic teaching as associate professor or equivalent.
