SDU Robotics, part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark, located in Odense, invites applications for potentially several positions as Associate Professor, Professor WSR or Professor, which will be vacant from December 1., 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The candidate will be integrated in the section SDU Robotics, which is at the core of the Odense Robotics Cluster involving Universal Robots, Mobile Industrial Robots (MIR) and 130+ other companies. We are specialized in robot solutions involving modelling, simulation and control of advanced robot technologies (systems and services) for industrial, welfare and medical applications. The group is involved in a variety of national and European projects and features a strong network of academic and industrial partners. We solve challenging research problems from real applications and implement novel robot solutions together with end users such as LEGO, Danfoss, Terma, Bang & Olufsen, Novo Nordisk and Odense University Hospital.
The candidate must hold a PhD degree in robotics or similar and is supposed to have the following qualifications:
The candidate is expected to participate in activities of the SDU Robotics section including current and future research projects. This involves for example:
The candidate will be involved in teaching courses on our BSc and MSc Program in Robot Systems Engineering enrolling approximately 80 students per year and to supervise BSc, MSc and PhD theses. The candidate must specify for which position level, they apply for.

Requirements for the positions
Employment for the positions requires scientific qualifications at PhD level within the mentioned research area.
Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.
Shortlisting may be used. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an assessment panel.
As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, the applicant may be called for interview.
Conditions of employment
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
Employment as an Associate Professor, Professor WSR or Professor is a permanent position.

- Experience in using AI methods for robotic applications in the medical and/or industrial domain

- To be able to collaborate with our experts in the further development of our core technologies
- To participate in the practicalities of actual research on medical applications
- To be deeply involved in our regular coordination and joint evolvement of research and project activities
