The Research Unit of Exercise Epidemiology and the Centre of Childhood Health , Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics invite applications for a position as assistant professor in health sciences within Lifestyle Epidemiology to be filled as soon as possible and until 30 September 2021.

Current research lines of The Research Unit of Exercise Epidemiology are to conduct:

• Descriptive studies of physical activity and screen media habits
• Physical activity and health promotion in school- and preschool children
• Screen media use health of young people and adults
• Methodological studies of assessment of physical activity and screen media habits

Research profile and tasks:

It will be expected that the assistant professor develops her/his research area within the topic of the research lines described above. The candidate will be engaged in the ongoing research projects that include a cohort study with a nested randomized trial among preschool children, a birth cohort study and a randomized controlled trial (RCT) investigating the effect of screen media use on health related outcomes in children and adults. Specifically, the candidate will be engaged in preparing and securing the 9-year-wave data collection and dissemination of the 7-year wave of a birth-cohort. Furthermore, the assistant professor will assist in the SCREENS project recruitment process and implementing the RCT (SCREENS is a project under grant agreement No. 716657 SCREENS by and between the European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA) and the University of Southern Denmark). Finally, the new assistant professor will be expected to assist in data processing and management and reporting results from other
studies in peer-reviewed journals and participating in designing and applying for grants to carry out future projects in the research unit.

Teaching profile and tasks:

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching at courses and supervision of students within the BSc and MSc programs at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, such as methodology courses within quantitative research.

Expectations of qualifications:

The successful candidate will be expected to have

• a PhD degree within the area of epidemiology research within the area of health sciences with focus on quantitative research, preferable within physical activity and health
• preferable some postdoc experience with planning and managing large-scale data collection in population-based studies
• research experience documented by international peer-reviewed journal articles within the fields of epidemiology research, preferable within physical activity and health
• a documented record of teaching experience and teaching skills in the field at bachelor and master level
