The Research Unit Learning & Talent in Sport, Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, invites highly motivated applications for a permanent position as associate or assistant professor.
The position is a full-time position and is available from May 1, 2020.
The place of employment is Campusvej 55, DK-5230 Odense M.
The position
Applicants will be expected to have technical skills in digital design and to have or be willing to learn a variety of knowledge within human movement, sport, play, learning and health.
We expect the applicant to participate in the further development of the department’s research in computer-human interaction (HCI and CHI-play) related to play, sports and health. The digital design related to human movement, play, sport, and health is perceived as an interdisciplinary field closely connected with design-related, aesthetic, and technological methods. The existing research and teaching draws upon participatory design and embodied creativity mixed with research in exertion games, persuasive computing, mixed realities and digitally supported rehabilitation and physical activity.
The successful applicant must have academic competencies in some of the fields and perform a highly tuned curiosity and willingness to learn about some the other domain-specific areas relevant to the position. You are expected to be a creative person as well as having analytical and communicative skills. Preferably you have experience with prototyping concerning digital concepts.
The research areas of the research unit LET’S deals with the practice of physical education and learning and how social relations influence talent development and performance, and with entrepreneurship and interaction design in 'human movement'. The field of interaction design research focuses on applied approaches based on embodied creativity design in service and product design related to movement. At the department there are opportunities for collaboration with researchers from other research units at the department as well as researchers from other faculties like engineering.
The research unit LET’S hosts writing and working activities to support a collaborative culture of knowledge creation. As a colleague you should be willing to expand the field with us, both in research and teaching, in a stimulating environment.
Research
Your research should be focused on innovative technologies and interactive digital design for the moving human body. The department has separate lab-facilities for research and teaching in innovation, play and movement.
You will have the opportunity to work closely together with the newly established strategic initiative TRINITY mainly the “The Lab for Innovative Motion Technology” track of the initiative. This laboratory is a cross-faculty collaboration between the Department of Sports Sciences and Clinical Biomechanics at the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of the Humanities. The project will, in, e.g. researching the digital representation of human bodies in mixed realities, game-design, and digital design “of” and “for” movement. TRINITY is based on the university’s strongholds in motion capture, robotics, biomechanics, sport science and embodied interaction and is closely related to external partners like the University Hospital, Team Denmark, Kompan and Danish Aerospace Company.
Teaching
Applicants will be expected to teach digital design related to play, sport, human movement, and health.
We expect the preferred candidate to participate in development of a new master program covering innovation and entrepreneurship in human movement and health.
Knowledge exchange
It will be expected that the applicant have interest in research cooperation with private companies, public organizations and civil society initiatives.
