Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, SDU invites applications for a two-year postdoct position in Total scattering and pair distribution function analysis of transition metal oxides for ion-storage. The position is available starting from 1 May 2020 or soon thereafter. Application deadline: 18 March 2020.
The project aims at studying disorder and amorphization in transition metal oxide materials for ion-storage purposes. The focus will be on structural characterization using total X-ray and neutron scattering with pair distribution function analysis as well as Rietveld refinement.
The project includes:
• Preparation of transition metal oxide materials using wet and solid-state inorganic synthesis, e.g. hydrothermal synthesis, sol-gel methods etc.
• Material characterization mainly through advanced X-ray and neutron scattering techniques and electron microscopy (SEM, TEM)
• Battery fabrication and tests
• Test of electrochemical performance and elucidation of transport properties through EIS and GITT
• Supervision of project, BSc and master students working on related topics.
The candidate should have a strong background in inorganic chemistry, energy materials and battery science. Documented experience with powder X-ray scattering, pair distribution function analysis and Rietveld refinement are an absolute must. Experience in inorganic synthesis, electron microscopy and battery related electrochemistry, hereunder battery assembly, galvanostatic battery cycling, cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy, is a plus.
For further information please contact Associate Professor Dorthe B. Ravnsbæk at phone (+45) 6550 7635 or e-mail [email protected].
Application, salary etc.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Please check links for more information on salary and taxation.
The application must include the following:
• A curriculum vitae including information on previous employment.
• A full list of publications stating the scientific publications on which the applicant wishes to rely.
Shortlisting may be used in the assessment process.
Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will neither be considered nor evaluated.
To qualify you must have passed a PhD or equivalent. Applications will be assessed by an expert assessor/committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.
