A position as research assistant is vacant at the DCA lab, Department of Clinical Research, for a 3-year period.
Background
The Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology (LMCC) is a research unit branching out from the Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Pharmacology, Odense University Hospital (OUH) and is part of the Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark as well. The DCA lab is part of LMCC and focuses on repairing the heart after myocardial infarction.
Scientific aim in DCA-lab
Overall, our lab utilizes regenerative medicine to improve heart repair following myocardial infarction. Specifically, we work on limiting the fibrotic response after MI as well as to identify novel mechanisms to compensate the loss of cardiomyocytes. The project has been financed by the Sapere Aude research program from the Danish Research Council and the Ascending Investigator grant program from the Lundbeck Foundation. At DCA-lab we all strive to reach the same goal working as a solid team and making all projects synergetic.
Job content
The candidate will sustain the project at all levels practically, participating in animal (zebrafish/mouse) and cell work to delineate novel strategies to repair the heart. Moreover, data analysis, administrative work including ordering, homepage updating etc. as well as general management of the lab are parts of the position together with the PI, one technician, 4-5 postdocs and 2-3 PhDs. Supervision in the lab of team members and students will be expected as in general. The employment is planned to start as soon as possible.
Qualifications
The qualified applicant holds a Master’s degree in Cell Biology/Molecular Biology/Biomedicine/similar. An animal work license and documented animal work experience are clear advantages. The candidate is expected to be able to communicate fluently in spoken and written English.
