The Centre for Quantum Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a number of two to three year positions as postdoctoral fellow with emphasis on pure mathematics with relations to quantum theory.

There are more than one funding source including several national Danish sources as well as the the ERC-Synergy Grant “Recursive and Exact New Quantum Theory (ReNewQuantum)” with Corresponding PI and QM Director Professor Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen.

The targeted starting date of the position is 1 August 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter. Application deadline: 17 January 2021.

The Centre for Quantum Mathematics (QM) is located at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science , Faculty of Science on the international campus in Odense, Denmark. QM is newly established with the ambition to create a highly international and interdisciplinary group within a broad spectrum of pure mathematics and mathematical physics. Odense is a fast-growing international community with an open Scandinavian culture, affordable housing and living costs.

The postdoc positions associated with the ERC Synergy project ReNewQuantum are expected to be able to contribute to the (WP) regarding resurgence and quantum corrections, Quantum Field Theory and Moduli Space theory as well as a fourth WP on education, outreach and science communication.

The postdoc positions funded by national Danish sources are in pure mathematics, but also within the field of applications of pure mathematics in the study of biology, in particular macro-molucular folding and pure mathematics applications in big data analysis.

Job description / requirements
A successful candidate will drive internationally competitive research and collaborate with the world community in the field. The selected candidate is expected to contribute to QM’s excellent research and teaching environment.

The candidate must have a PhD degree in algebra, algebraic geometry, differential geometry, algebraic topology, complex geometry, quantum topology, geometric analysis, operator algebra, number theory or mathematical physics. Furthermore the candidate must have an emerging research track in the field. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate, who works and communicates well in an international team. The candidate must be able to carry out independent and rigorous work at top international level.

One of the positions is subject to the entry into force of grant agreement no 810573 by and between The University of Southern Denmark and European Research Council (ERC) and thereby funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.
