The Department of Psychology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, embedded within the Faculty of Health Sciences, invites applications for a vacant position as full professor in cognitive neuroscience, starting August 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department of Psychology has been built up over the last 10 years and forms the research basis for the bachelor and master’s degree programmes in psychology at the University of Southern Denmark. Both degree programmes are fully developed and the first master’s students graduated in August 2015.

The research foci of the Department include Psychotraumatology and Interpersonal Violence, Pedagogical and Child Psychology, Cognitive and Biological Psychology, Architectural Psychology, Personality Psychology, and Medical and Clinical Psychology with a translational perspective.

The research programme is currently organized into 6 research groups, with our academic staff members participating in one or more of the research groups.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

A highly motivated candidate who will contribute actively to the environment of the department through the following activities:

• Continued course development and coordination of the degree programmes in psychology
• Teaching and supervision at the BSc, MSc and PhD levels
• Development of a dynamic research environment through the establishment of national and international collaborations
• Active participation in one or more of the research groups of the department
• Raising external competitive research funds
• Development of talents at the Department

We expect you to have:

• A master’s degree in psychology with a PhD degree
• Formalised pedagogical and didactic qualifications and competences
• Documented teaching experience in delivering high quality undergraduate and graduate teaching that includes development of teaching plans/materials, examination, supervision of bachelor and masters’ students and use of innovative teaching methods
• experience with teaching in cognitive neuroscience but preferably also in other areas of psychology and methodology
• Supervised several PhD students as Principal Supervisor
• Ability to provide scientific leadership, inspiration and guidance of research colleagues and to have your own research group
• Strong national and international profile within cognitive neuroscience
• Ability to build relationships, as documented by strong national and international networks
• Strong communicative and collaborative skills
• Outreach qualifications and demonstrated strong track record in obtaining external funding
• Numerous papers in high-quality journals or other high-quality publication channels
• An interest in working in an international and interdisciplinary environment
• Proficiency in spoken and written English

APPLICATION

Appointment as Professor presupposes scientific qualifications documented through a PhD degree in psychology.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

  • degree certificates (inclusive of Ph.D.-diploma)
  • a complete and numbered list of publications
  • 10 scientific peer-reviewed publications considered by the candidate as most important for this position. Please notice that one pdf.- or docx.-file must be attached for each publication.
  • a teaching portfolio
  • a research plan detailing the candidate’s ideas and plans for her/his future research work.

Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above-mentioned requirements will not be assessed.

Shortlisting may be used.

The shortlisted applications will be assessed under the existing Appointment Order for universities and will be assessed by an independent and external assessment committee. This committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.

When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her.
