The Department of Business and Economics, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, invites applications for a vacant Professorship within the area of finance to be filled as soon as possible.
Job description
The department is an international department with a strong tradition for excellence in research and teaching within the various areas of business economics and economics. The research, teaching and dissemination activities at the department are organized within four groups: Accounting; Finance; Microeconomics, and Econometrics and Economic History.
It is the aim of the department to conduct research of the highest international standard documented through 1. publications in internationally distinguished journals, 2. presentations at international conferences and 3. dissemination with high visibility and broad societal impact.
Further, the department emphasizes high-quality research-based teaching using the most relevant teaching methods to enhance students’ learning.
The Finance Group is responsible for undergraduate as well as graduate finance courses at all five campuses at the University of Southern Denmark. The Finance Group is situated in Odense.

The teaching and research language at the Faculty is English and Danish.

A successful applicant is expected to demonstrate a positive contribution to the general development of the Finance Group.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Applicants applying for a professorship are requested to submit a teaching portfolio with the application as documentation for teaching experience as well as supervision qualifications. Formal application instructions and a guide for the teaching portfolio may be found here.
Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee and the committee will assess whether you are qualified to be a Professor.
The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.
When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her. The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Department who will assemble an appointments committee. The appointments committee will manage and complete the job interviews, should such be conducted. Additionally, the appointments committee determines which candidate will be offered the position.
Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
Shortlisting and tests may be used in the assessment process.

- a Ph.D. in finance or a related field
- a strong and ongoing record of research publications in highly reputed international academic journals
- a proven experience in academic leadership as well as a successful record of research funding
- a strong record of designing and delivering academic teaching and supervision at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate (Ph.D) levels
- experience with developing and managing educational programs
- the ability to work in multi-disciplinary research and teaching
- excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain good working relationships
- ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- a solid track-record of successful contribution to research management, community building, and administrative tasks, including strategy development

- supervise undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students
- conduct high-quality research that leads to publications in highly reputed international academic journals
- take responsibility for program and curriculum development
- strengthen the Finance group’s development in research, teaching, and dissemination
- maintain and develop relationships with appropriate stakeholders
- perform academic, knowledge dissemination and administrative tasks
