A position as Postdoc in biostatistics is vacant at the research unit Open Patient data Explorative Network (OPEN), Department of Clinical Research (KI), Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at Odense University hospital-Svendborg Hospital (OUH). The position is available as soon as possible.

The position is part-time (18,5 hours/week) and is fixed-term for two years, and an extension is possible depending on future funding.

OPEN is a research unit and an infrastructure at Odense University Hospital (OUH) and at the Department of Clinical Research, SDU, supporting clinical and epidemiological research at OUH and at the Department of Clinical Research by offering biobank and clinical and register data facilities. OPEN is growing rapidly through its strengthening of clinical and epidemiological research and related methodological developments.

Research assignments

In cooperation with researchers at the research unit OPEN and Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Biodemography (Department of Public Health, SDU), the new postdoc will be responsible for methodological research in biostatistics as well as for data management and data analysis on specific research projects.

It is therefore important that our new postdoc has good collaboration skills as well as knowledge about epidemiology and biostatistics. It will also be expected that the postdoc will contribute to the teaching and supervision of PhD and master's students, etc.

Depending on interests and background, there will be opportunities for individual competency development and possible academic career opportunities in connection with SDU.

Expectations of qualifications

It will be expected that our new postdoc:

  • has a solid theoretical background with a master's degree in statistics or mathematics as well as a PhD degree in statistics or biostatistics
  • has documented experience in the development of statistical methods and publications in statistical journals
  • is able to communicate broadly and is willing to collaborate with different professions
  • is able to work in a structured and independent way.
