The Centre for Energy Informatics, The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for a position as Professor in modeling and simulation of energy system and process efficiency. The starting date of the position is 1st of January 2022.
The Center for Energy Informatics was founded in 2013 and is an interdisciplinary research, development and innovation center that brings together software engineers, computer scientists, applied physicists, electrical engineers and social scientists in the application of information technology to facilitated the transition towards a sustainable energy system by intelligent integration and optimization of the energy flexibility found in buildings and industrial processes with the fluctuating energy supply from renewable sources, like wind and solar.

Conditions of employment
The candidate must have a PhD degree within a relevant research area.

The responsibility for the position is:
- To establish a nationally and internationally acknowledged expertise in modeling and simulation of energy technologies for developing energy efficient solutions for systems and processes with particular focus on collaboration with national and international industrial and academic partners.
- To establish collaboration and develop joint industrial research projects with Danish industry. To apply for funding and execute projects on applied energy technology areas in collaboration with Danish industrial partners and to extend international impact and collaboration.
- To head, develop and consolidate the educational programme in energy technology, and to contribute to the teaching at master and PhD level.
- To contribute to the center management including participation in evaluation and hiring processes, allocation of project resources and assisting in various center personal management tasks.
Requirements and qualifications:
- The applicant must have a proven track record in the fields of thermal and fluid energy processes with particular focus on industrial applications. This track record must be attested to by scientific publications and industrial work experience.
- Besides a proven record in teaching and supervision at the Master and PhD level, the applicant has experience in development and management of educational programs. It is important that the applicant will be able to head the development and operation of educational programs at SDU.
- The applicant is expected to have documented experience in applied research projects bridging science and industry.
- It is expected that the applicant has group leader experience; applicants with proven experience in establishing and managing a research group are preferred.
- The preferred candidate is expected to have experience in writing research funding application and taking a leading role in large public funded research projects with participating industrial partners.
