Place: Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Odense Campus.
Starting date: between 1 January 2022 and 1 September 2022.
Application deadline: 1 November 2021. Duration: two years.
In connection with the project ‘Operator Algebras, Groups, and Quantum Spaces’ (funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark) we are opening a two-year postdoc position for a young researcher with a research profile in operator algebras. The standard Danish salary is very competitive, and the position also includes a travel budget of EURO 2600 per year. The teaching load will not exceed one semester per year, corresponding to 10 ECTS, and the teaching may be conducted in English.
Currently the research group in operator algebras at the University of Southern Denmark consists of Jamie Gabe, Jens Kaad, David Kyed and Wojciech Szymański, and the successful candidate is expected to have research interests in common with at least one of these. More information about the group and its members can be found at its website.
Formal requirement:
The candidate is required to be fluent in English and to hold a PhD degree in mathematics at the starting date of the position.
In case further information is needed, please contact Wojciech Szymanski at [email protected] or Jamie Gabe at [email protected].
Application, salary etc.
The application must be submitted electronically (in English), using the online application form (see link 'Apply online'). In addition to the information asked for in the online application form, we ask you to include the following:
(1) A CV including information on previous employment.
(2) PhD diploma (if the applicant has not yet defended their dissertation, they should attach a letter from their supervisor confirming that the defense is going to take place before the postdoc position begins). In case the diploma does not state explicitly who supervised the applicant’s dissertation, please make sure to include this information elsewhere.
(3) A full list of publications including both preprints and published material. Please do not attach your publications to the application. If an article is not yet published, include instead a link to the arXiv or to your personal webpage in your list of publications.
(4) A short research statement (max four pages) describing previous and future research interests.
(5) The names and e-mail addresses of two to three people who will write letters of reference upon request.
Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will neither be considered nor evaluated.
To qualify you must have passed a PhD or equivalent. Applications will be assessed by an expert assessor/committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.
Shortlisting may be used in the assessment process.
We expect to make the first offers around 1 December 2021.
The University encourages all interested persons to apply, regardless of age, gender, religious affiliation, or ethnic background.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Please check links for more information on salary and taxation.
