The Unit of Cancer and Inflammation Research, Department of Molecular Medicine, invites applications for a permanent full-time associate professor position in translational cancer research to be filled from May 1, 2022.
Research profile and tasks
Applicants must have a research profile that fit in the current focus areas of the department. For this associate professor position the ‘resistance mechanisms to checkpoint inhibitors in cancer” will be expected to be a central field of research. The position will be linked to the department’s Cancer Unit. The new associate professor will be responsible for the management and future development of cancer animal models at the Cancer Unit.
It will be expected that this position strengthens translational and integrative lines of research for understanding the resistance mechanisms by bridging clinical findings with preclinical studies at the molecular level and in experimental animal models. Collaborations will therefore be expected within the department, with other university departments and with hospitals in the region, including the nearby Odense University Hospital (OUH).
OUH is the main hospital in the region (population of 1.2 million) responsible for diagnoses and treatments within all specialties. Establishment of strong international collaborations of benefit to the unit as well as the department will be expected as well.
Teaching commitments
The successful applicant will hold course responsibility and deliver course teaching within the relevant curriculum to medical, BSc and MSc students at courses provided by the Faculty of Health Sciences. She/he is be expected to participate in mentoring graduate and PhD students pursuing their Master’s degree and PhD.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold an M.Sc. and PhD in biology, pharmacology, biomedicine or related sciences or equivalent M.D. Formal pedagogical training “adjunktpædagogikum” or equivalent must have been obtained or will be expected to be completed within the first two years of the employment.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated significant research experience as assistant professor or equivalent documented with publications and attraction of funding.
