A position as assistant or associate professor (20 % time) is vacant as soon as possible at the Orthopaedic Research Unit, Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, Odense University Hospital-Svendborg Hospital (OUH).
The position is limited to 5 years with the possibility of extension.
The research unit
The Orthopaedic Research Unit is a dynamic research group. We perform research within several fields including clinical research, experimental research, epidemiological research, and qualitative research.
We have both technical/administrative staff (research nurse, secretary, and laboratory technician) and scientific staff employed in the unit. Now, we have 3 professors and 2 adjunct professors as well as several senior researchers with clinical employment and 5 PhD students.
We collaborate with other specialties and research groups both nationally and internationally. We wish to strengthen the patient near and qualitative research further within our research unit.
The academic position
The job involves research, professional development, research education, teaching, including exams, supervision, and assessment work within the field of qualitative research.
Expectations of qualifications
The assistant or associate professor must be employed as a clinical nurse researcher at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, OUH. The applicant must have documented research experience within the areas of qualitative research and user involvement. We seek a researcher who can do research on patient pathways across sectors, disciplines, and scientific areas, where the focus is to compliment the quantitative research using qualitative research methodologies from a user-involving perspective.
We want a person who has a strong national and international research- and development network and who is well-founded within the field of orthopaedic traumatology and surgery. In addition, we expect the person to work with a close connection to the clinical, orthopaedic surgical practice.
In addition, good cooperation skills will be expected in order to further the development of research in the areas mentioned above, both interdisciplinary as well as nationally and internationally. International partners are an advantage, but not a requirement.
Furthermore, we expect potential applicants to have:
Danish language skills are not required initially, however, should be mastered within the first 2 years of employment.

The applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
