SDU Robotics, part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark, located in Odense, invites applications for one or more position(s) as Associate Professor in Robotics for Welfare Applications. The starting date is 01.03.2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Workplace description
The candidate will be integrated in the SDU Robotics section specialized in robot solutions involving sensorial processing, mathematical modeling, learning and simulation targeted at advanced robot systems for welfare but also other application domains. The section comprises an international staff and is involved in a variety of national and European projects. The aim of the section is to solve challenging research problems from real applications and to participate in implementing the achieved results into real solutions with end users. We are looking for candidates that can contribute to facilitating the process of the design, implementation and testing of highly flexible robotic solutions for the welfare domain involving the combination of advanced human-robot interaction (HRI), mechanical design and robot software development.

Profile and requirements
The candidate must hold a PhD degree in robotics or a related field.

The candidate is supposed to have most of the following qualifications:

  • Documented experience with human-robot interaction
  • Documented experience with mobile robots
  • Documented research record in HRI and welfare robotics
  • Practical experience with computer vision

Preferable the successful candidate is also expected to have:

  • experience with fund raising on a national and international level,
  • documented skills and experience with project management and team leading,
  • experience with teaching and supervision of students on both bachelor and master level
  • strong programming skills (e.g. C++, python, MATLAB),
  • practical experience with ROS and the integration of robotic applications.

Conditions of employment
Employment as an associate professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level.
