The Department of Biology at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a two-year postdoc in acoustic modelling. The application deadline is 31 January 2022, with a flexible start date in early 2022.
In this project the candidate will apply finite-/ boundary element modelling to 3D data from freely flying echolocating bats. The project involves scanning of animals, creation of 3D mesh models and alignment to 3D data from freely flying animals.
The overall goal of the project is to investigate dynamic control of sound reception and emission in freely flying animals. The position is part of an ongoing Villum young investigator project on bat echolocation investigating how bats actively control perception.
The chosen candidate will join an innovative expanding bat echolocation lab and be a part of the Sound Communication and Behaviour group at SDU. She/he will benefit from a vibrant social and scientific environment with excellence within bioacoustic research, over a wide range of subjects, from sound production mechanisms to hearing development and anthropogenic noise.
