The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Molecular Microbiology. We are looking for an outstanding junior researcher with an innovative mindset and intellectual curiosity to strengthen and complement the research profile of the Research Unit for Molecular Microbiology. The position is for a duration of three years, after which a position at the level of associate professor will be made available, subject to a positive assessment. This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated research talents to develop their independent research programme in a well-equipped and highly supportive environment.

They are expected to supervise student projects from Bachelor to PhD level, disseminate their results through publication in international peer-reviewed journals and seek external research funding. The candidate will be enrolled in the SDU Lecturer Training Programme and the SDU Science Academy to enhance qualifications in university didactics and research management, respectively.
The Research Unit for Molecular Microbiology offers shared fully equipped biosafety level 1 and 2 laboratories, including a climate-controlled fluorescence microscope, FACS instrument and a medium-throughput semi-automated chemical screening platform within the BSL-2 laboratory. We also cultivate our links to the other sections of the department that contain absolute state-of-the-art research infrastructure for biomolecular mass spectrometry, advanced bioimaging and high-throughput sequencing.
