A 1-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Experimental Nano Optics from September 1, 2022 until August 31, 2023 is open at SDU Nano Optics, Mads Clausen Institute, (www.SDU.dk/nano-optics) at the University of Southern Denmark (Odense Campus).
The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to carry out numerical simulations, nanofabrication and experimental characterization of diverse plasmonic nanostructures designed for the purposes of modulation and detection of plasmonic guided modes as well as free-propagating optical radiation. In addition, the Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to teach SDU students, delivering in the autumn semester 2022 the mathematical part of the course “Ingeniørfagligt grundfag 3 - Matematik og Fysik”. The aim is to develop novel ultracompact plasmon-empowered nanophotonic components, such as lithium-niobate-based switches and modulators, and germanium-based photodetectors. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with several international research groups.
Potential candidates for the Postdoctoral Fellowship described above are expected to have a relevant PhD degree and documented research experience within the field of plasmon-based nanophotonic components as well as a strong academic record. Experience in advanced nanofabrication, as well as design, modelling and optical characterization of plasmonic active components will be considered an advantage.
The Postdoctoral Fellow is also expected to be actively involved in the supervision of MSc and PhD students affiliated with SDU Nano Optics as well as in writing grant applications supporting the research at SDU Nano Optics.
