PostDoc position in Trustworthy Cyber-Physical Systems and Internet of Things within I4.0

The Software Engineering Section at the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a one-year full time PostDoc position with the possibility of being extended to two years for the project Trustworthy CPS/IoT within I4.0. Start date is as soon as possible and will be agreed upon with the successful candidate.

With a planned investment of DKK 140 million, SDU’s I4.0 lab supports cutting edge research, innovation, and education in the technologies underpinning Industry 4.0. In the I4.0 lab, hyper flexible production facilities continue to be developed and analyzed in an interdisciplinary collaboration between students, researchers, and industry.

The main objective of the research work will be development and deployment of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML)-based automized safety and security assessment solutions for trustworthy CPS with advanced IoT features.

To measure and ensure the trustworthiness of CPS (TCPS), the successful applicant will conduct R&D on advanced formal design & analysis technology including verification & validation using AI/ML, formalism-based model debugging, model transformation, automatic code generation and synthesis within an Industry 4.0 platform.

Topics of particular interest are: AI/ML based-safety and security assessment during the TCPS development process, formal models for CPS safety and security simulation. risk assessment and management, model-based system engineering for safety and security.

Key Responsibilities of the PostDoc include:

  • Conducting scientific research and publishing the results in high quality scientific conferences/journals.
  • Participating actively in project coordination meetings and dissemination activities.
  • Contributing to the project deliverables and software tool development.

Profile and requirements:

  • PhD degree (or close to completing) in computer science/software engineering or related areas.
  • Model-base system engineering.
  • Software verification & validation (e.g., model checking, testing, simulation)
  • Software development in ML/AI.
  • Proficiency in programming skills (Java, C/C++, Python, MATLAB and/or other programming languages) is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork capabilities.
  • English language fluency in both speaking and writing.

The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute is an internationally recognized institute, which has maintained a leading position in robotics for more than three decades. In the last decade the institute has also been building up in drone and software research. The institute has spawned the world-renowned cluster of robotics in Odense with more than 130 robotics companies including Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots. The software section is pursuing research and education activities to address the needs for knowledge and talent within software (e.g., within the cluster of robotics and the software industry in Denmark).
