A two-year postdoc position is available from 1 April 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter, at the research unit Nordcee, Department of Biology. The successful candidate will join a team of scientists studying the ecophysiology and ecology of ammonia-oxidizing archaea in oxygen-limited environments. Application deadline: 8 February 2023.
The project
Ammonia-oxidizing archaea are key players in the nitrogen cycle of the world’s oceans. They are frequently found in oxygen-depleted environments like marine oxygen-minimum zones or sediments though they are thought to have a strictly aerobic physiology. We found evidence for a so far undiscovered intra-aerobic metabolic pathway in a cultured representative.
The aim of the postdoctoral project is to further characterize the ecophysiology of oxygen-production in ammonia-oxidizing archaea. Depending on the applicant’s background, different research directions are possible such as:
Required qualifications
Applicants need to have a PhD and a background in the archaeal ecophysiology. Working experience with ammonia-oxidizing archaea, stable isotope labelling techniques, microsensors and optode measurements is required. Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
For further information please contact Associate Professor Beate Kraft, e-mail: [email protected].
Application, salary etc.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Please check links for more information on salary and taxation.
The application must include the following:
• A curriculum vitae including information on previous employment.
• A full list of publications stating the scientific publications on which the applicant wishes to rely.
Shortlisting may be used in the assessment process.
Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will neither be considered nor evaluated.
To qualify you must have passed a PhD or equivalent. Applications will be assessed by an expert assessor/committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.
The University wishes our staff to reflect the diversity of society and thus welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.
Applications must be submitted electronically using the link "Apply online". Attached files must be in Adobe PDF or Word format. Each box can only contain a single file of max. 10 Mb. We strongly recommend that you read How to apply before you apply.
