The laboratory of Marleen Kortenoeven, Cardiovascular and Renal Research Unit at the Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Southern Denmark is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work in the field of renal transport physiology.
The postdoc position is available from the 1st of September 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter, for a period of 18 months.
Job description
In this research project the candidate will investigate the regulation of sodium transport in the kidney. The ability of the kidney to adjust the sodium excretion into urine plays a critical role in long-term blood pressure control. The project will provide new knowledge on the regulation of renal sodium transport in an effort to identify novel therapeutic targets for hypertension treatment. To conduct the research, the candidate will employ various experimental methods including the use of transgenic mice, metabolic cage studies, ex vivo tubule experiments, cell culture and a range of molecular and biochemical techniques.
The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for the planning of the project as well as data acquisition, preparation and analysis, manuscript writing, and other activities for disseminating the results. The candidate will also be expected to apply for research funding from external funding agencies. In addition, the candidate will have to fulfill the teaching obligations associated with a postdoc position at the Department of Molecular Medicine.
The Cardiovascular and Renal Research Unit focusses on innovative molecular and biomedical research related to cardiovascular and renal physiology. We offer a stimulating, international research environment where English is the preferred language at meetings and seminars. You will work in the brand new “NytSUND” building being established in connection to the hospital and university campus with modern laboratories and animal facilities.
