The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a position as postdoc in medicinal bioinorganic chemistry. The two-year position is available from 1 September 2023 or hereafter.
Application deadline: 26 June 2023.
The postdoc will be involved in a Synergy project funded by the NovoNordisk Foundation (“Image and Destroy: New Radionuclides for Cancer Theranostics (ID-Cancer”). The project is a collaboration with the department of Nuclear Medicine at Odense University Hospital Denmark (Dr Helge Thisgaard), and with a group at Dublin City University in Ireland specializing in medicinal inorganic chemistry (Professor Andrew Kellett). The research goal will be to conjugate cancer targeting peptides to chelators suitable for binding radioactive theranostic isotope pairs of metal ions (Sb, Co, Cu, Ga) for application in diagnostics and cancer therapy.
Expected competences include a strong experience in organic and molecular inorganic synthesis, coordination chemistry, and a solid background in structural and spectroscopic methods for the characterization of metal-containing molecules. Experience in solid-state peptide synthesis and purification will be advantageous.
Experience in radiochemistry is not expected.
The supervision of undergraduate and graduate students and a small amount of undergraduate teaching can be expected.
For further information please contact Professor Christine McKenzie ([email protected]).
