The Section for Civil and Architectural Engineering (CAE) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a position as Full Professor in a field within Civil and Architectural Engineering. SDU CAE is part of the Department of Innovation and Technology (ITI), within the Faculty of Engineering at SDU.
Job description
The successful candidate is expected to drive internationally competitive research activities, to publish in high level peer-reviewed academic journals as well as engage in other forms and levels of research dissemination, form industrial collaborations, and to play an active role in securing external funding, including both EU and Danish sources.
A commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate level is expected including participation in teaching and the development of new courses and in supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD students as required.
The position holds a high level of responsibility, but also comes with influence and opportunity to develop and deliver research and education to the highest international level.
SDU Civil and Architectural Engineering
SDU CAE conducts research in the design, construction, and use of the built environment. The section is comprised of engineers and architects, working together following the concept of total design, which implies a comprehensive understanding of the complexity of building projects and the need for building engineers to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries. The section has a strong focus on four key research areas: structural engineering, facade engineering, computational design and fabrication, and urban resilience.
The education and teaching portfolio at SDU CAE primarily covers the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Civil Engineering and the Bachelor and Master of Science in Engineering Program in Civil Engineering, however, there are also opportunities to participate in educational activities at other educational programs at the faculty.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent qualifications within the field of Civil and Architectural Engineering. A strong track record of research and scientific publications, as well as a demonstrated ability to attract research funding, are required. Leadership and project management experience and excellent communication skills are considered essential.
The successful candidate should have a well-documented teaching record in the relevant field(s). Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Danish is advantageous but not mandatory.
Condition of employment
Employment terms is specified in the labor market agreement, and salary is negotiable. The candidate should have a PhD degree within the mentioned research area.
