Danish Centre for Motivation and Behaviour Science (DRIVEN) and the research unit Sport and Health Sciences at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for an 18-month postdoc position in physical activity behaviour change to be filled in the period 1 January 2024 to 30 June 2025.

The position and the project

The candidate will be part of the “FIT FIRST FOR ALL” project (funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation), the Danish Centre for Motivation and Behaviour Science (DRIVEN) and the research unit Sport and Health Sciences. FIT FIRST FOR ALL is a school-based sport intervention for children aged 6-16 years old with an emphasis on fun which is implemented across many schools throughout Denmark. The primary tasks of the candidate will be to review literature, and to analyze quantitative data and write up papers for international peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to data collection and knowledge exchange activities as part of the broader FIT FIRST FOR ALL team.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • A PhD degree in health sciences/psychology/sports science, ideally with a behavioural focus
  • Knowledge of, and experience in applying, health behaviour change theories
  • Research experience related to the area of physical activity behaviour change (interventions) in school settings and/or with children/youth, documented by research outputs in peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience with project management of research activities
  • Competencies to engage in knowledge exchange and collaborations with and for society
  • Experience with advanced quantitative methods and analyses
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Employment

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). An evaluation will be performed 3 months after employment.

Living and working in Denmark
