Do you want to join one of the strongest biomedical mass spectrometry research environments in Europe? Here is an excellent opportunity to work on an exciting and challenging project in such an environment.
The Jørgensen group at the Protein Research Group/Section for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) is looking for a highly motivated postdoc to join a project on acidic disordered proteins and their impacts on heparin-binding proteins. The postdoc position is full time, limited initially to 1.5 years, starting 1 November 2023 or soon thereafter. Application deadline: 25 September 2023.
This is a highly interdisciplinary project between four research institutions with expertise in bioinformatics, mass spectrometry, NMR, and biochemistry/cell biology. You will be part of an international and dynamic research team. You will be motivated to use advanced mass spectrometry to discover and investigate disordered proteins and their interplay with extracellular proteoglycans. Initial studies on proteins involved in intravascular lipolysis (GPIHBP1 and LPL) will be used to define further studies on disordered acidic proteins selected by bioinformatics. You will manage an independent research project and assist in the supervision of undergraduate students.
The Jørgensen group is part of the Protein Research Group/Section for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry at BMB and offers a strong international research environment in proteomics, protein chemistry, biomolecular mass spectrometry, and computational proteomics.
Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with excellent communication skills.
For consideration, applicants must have:
In addition, applicants with one or more of the following types of experience will be preferred:
