The Mads Clausen Institute offers a position as associate professor in ‘Sustainable polymer thin films and devices’ to strengthen the research and teaching activities in these areas at the faculty of engineering, University of Southern Denmark (SDU). The associate professorship is affiliated with the SDU NanoSYD Centre in Sønderborg. The starting date is end of June, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Mads Clausen Institute covers research and education spanning from foundations to applications of engineering science. Most of our courses are taught in English reflecting the fact that more than half of our students and staff are internationals. SDU NanoSYD with about 25 coworkers is located at SDU's beautiful campus in Sønderborg, in the inspiring building of Alsion, which is a centre for science, culture and learning in the heart of Sønderborg and perched on the strait of water separating the island of Als from the mainland. The university has very close relations to industries in Sønderborg, Southern Denmark and Northern Germany. Within the last five years, the NanoSYD Centre has excelled in the development and upscaling of innovative organic and hybrid solar cells, bridging fundamental science to industrial roll-to-roll (R2R) processing for these technologies. We foresee the new associate professor to play a key part in expanding this direction into even more sustainable technologies based on the use and characterization of green materials and processing techniques with both academic and industrial partners. The associate professor is expected to lead research and publication activities within the areas of sustainable polymer thin films and devices for various application areas.
