A one-year Postdoc position with possibility of extension in nanotechnology, nanomaterials and nanoparticles assembly is open at SDU NanoSYD, Mads Clausen Institute, (www.sdu.dk/nanosyd) at the University of Southern Denmark (Sønderborg Campus). Starting date is 1.3.2021 or as soon as possible.
The successful candidate is expected to carry out research mainly within the project “NanoTrain: Programmable colloidal nanomachine” supported by Villum Fonden. The project aims to explore possibilities of building fully programmable nanodevices controlled by external magnetic field and/or laser radiation. The work involves nanofabrication, heterogenous particle assembly, synthesis of hydrogels, modelling and optical characterization.
The Postdoc is also expected to be actively involved in the supervision of MSc and PhD students affiliated with SDU NanoSYD as well as in writing grant applications supporting the research at SDU NanoSYD.
Potential candidates for the position are expected to have a relevant PhD degree and documented research experience within nanotechnology and/or nanophotonics. Experience in advanced nanofabrication and optical characterization of particles will also be considered as an advantage. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, the candidate is expected to have excellent collaboration skills. A very good capability of communicating scientific results in English, both orally and in writing, is required.

Requirements for the positionEmployment as a Postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level.
Applications will be assessed by an expert. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty. An interview might be part of the assessment process.
Conditions of employment
Employment as a Postdoc is temporary. The employment will cease without further notice at the end of the period.
Employment is governed by the Protocol on PhD Research Fellows signed by the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree.
The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time.
