Randstad is looking for an ambitious Senior Scientist for SaltPower. SaltPower is a fast-growing company developing green technology for producing energy. SaltPower has managed to further develop an idea of producing clean, CO2-free, predictable energy through osmosis by mixing water and salt water through a semi-permeable membrane. The technology has surpassed offshore wind energy as a faster and cheaper way to reduce the world’s carbon footprint.
SaltPower will grow from six to 12 people in 2021, and you will become part of a team of highly specialized professionals developing the next leap in green energy.
You will be responsible for a smaller R&D area with the support of 1-2 colleagues. You will work interdisciplinary, and ultimately you will be responsible for the membranes function in the solution. Your work could include:
- Developing membranes for ultra-high pressure in collaboration with external partners
- Experimental testing with SaltPower in-house test setups
- Answering subject-specific questions about membranes
- Generation of PFD’s and PI&D’s within the process department
- Further research and patenting
You will further develop SaltPower’s relationship and collaboration with relevant universities. Over time you will fill in for the CTO as needed.
You are eager to contribute to the production of CO2-free, predictable energy and thereby contribute to the green transition. You want to change the future of energy and be a key team member, in a team that are first-movers in a new era of energy.
You have a background as a Ph.D., and you are an expert in the field of osmosis and membranes. In short, you:
- Have experience with membrane technology and/or water chemistry & treatment
- Have experience in planning and execution of test on experimental equipment
- Have experienced in Modelling – both dynamic and static
- Have experience with EU research projects is an advantage
- Are someone who wants to change the world
- Will be a key figure in the company
It is essential, that you have a “can-do attitude” and can invent your way out of problems when facing challenges. You will take part in completing tasks outside of your expertise, and it is second nature to help your colleagues. You are comfortable balancing between starting up and finishing processes.

The company was founded in 2015, and in 2018 SaltPower built the world’s first full scale demonstration system aimed at producing osmotic power from concentrated brines. The first commercial project was sold in 2020.
