Postdoctoral position(s) in ‘Organic solar cells from novel non-fullerene acceptor-based material systems’

Mads Clausen Institute, NanoSYD, OPV Group invites applications for a fully-funded Postdoc position in “Organic solar cells from novel non-fullerene acceptor-based material systems”. The starting date is March 15th, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter, for a 1-year period.

What we offer
We are an international research group working in the field of thin film solar cells (OPV group at SDU NanoSYD), which are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to join our research team at University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Sønderborg. The specific research topic for the postdoc position is development of novel non-fullerene acceptor-based material systems targeting organic solar cells with extended lifetimes. The position is available earliest from March 15th 2022 for a 1-year period.

What we expect
We seek a postdoc candidate for development of organic solar cell devices based on novel non-fullerene acceptor-based material systems, including also materials, thin-film and device characterization. Investigations on active layer formulations with various additives, as well as device development on scalable processing techniques using e.g. slot-die coating, is also part of the research tasks. As a postdoc you are expected to develop and carry out your own ideas, and communicate scientific results in leading, high-ranked research journals. We offer a fully funded postdoc position for the duration of minimum 1 year.

Candidates who have a previous PhD degree in a field relevant to the mentioned project may seek the position. Preferred candidates have: a strong background in applied physics/materials science/chemical engineering/electrical engineering, as well as device physics and organic thin-film device fabrication and characterization. Candidates are expected to hold relevant publications on these topics. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, the candidate is expected to have excellent collaboration skills. A very good capability of communicating scientific results in English, both orally and in writing is required. Research visits at the collaborating partners should be expected.

We are an international research group working in the field of green energy technologies (SDU NanoSYD OPV Group), and we are looking for a highly motivated postdoc candidate to join our research team at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), campus Sønderborg, in the development of non-fullerene based organic photovoltaics. We offer a modern, inclusive, international and interdisciplinary working environment with state-of-the-art facilities as well as a strong tradition of international collaboration. Having a focus on developing materials and devices for green energy technologies, the group has full access to an ISOS5 cleanroom and surface science laboratory facility for preparation and characterization, as well as a roll-to-roll facility for upscaling. The research group is a partner in various national and international research projects and networks that include collaboration partners from both academia and industry.

Conditions of employment
Employment as a postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level. Employment as a postdoc is temporary and will cease without further notice at the end of the period.

Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree. The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time.
