Postdoctoral Associate of micro and nanoplastics detection at the Mads Clausen Institute

A two-year Postdoc position in nanomaterials microscopy and chemical imaging is open at SDU NanoSYD, Mads Clausen Institute (www.SDU.dk/nanosyd) at the University of Southern Denmark (Sønderborg Campus). Starting date is 1.3.2023 or as soon as possible.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct research mainly within the project "PlastTrack – atechnology platform for micro- and nanoplastics tracking" supported by the Interreg Deutschland-Danmark 6a programme.
The project focuses on developing a technological platform that automates the tracking and digital analysis of micro- and nanoplastics. Close cooperation with industrial partners is planned. The work involves high-resolution microscopy – including Helium ion and Raman microscopy, microfluidics, nanoparticle assembly and various optical characterization techniques.
The Postdoc is also expected to be actively involved in the supervision of MSc and PhD students affiliated with SDU NanoSYD as well as in writing grant applications supporting the research at SDU NanoSYD.
Potential candidates are expected to have a relevant PhD degree and documented research experience within nanotechnology, advanced microscopy and/or nanophotonics. Experience in advanced microscopy and optical characterization of nanoplastics and nanoparticles will also be an advantage. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, the candidate is expected to have excellent collaboration skills. A very good capability of communicating scientific results in English, both orally and in writing, is required.

Requirements for the positionEmployment as a Postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level.

Conditions of employment
Employment as a Postdoc is temporary. The employment will cease without further notice at the end of the period.
Employment is governed by the Protocol on PhD Research Fellows signed by the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree.
The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time.
