The Department of Technology and Innovation (ITI) at the Faculty of Engineering invites applications to a 3-year fulltime position as a Post doc with a project focus on entrepreneurship and innovation management through student-company collaboration. The position is in the TEI Section https://www.SDU.dk/en/tei at the Faculty of Engineering on the international campus Sønderborg.

The position is available from April 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.

SDU-ITI Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The SDU TEI section unites engineering, innovation management, and entrepreneurship scholars in joint research projects and teaching. SDU TEI is embedded in a region with a strong network of companies, including some of Denmark's largest global industrial players (i.e., Danfoss, Linak, Siemens, Vestas) and many manufacturing SMEs. The group publishes in diverse leading international journals, related to entrepreneurship and innovation these are e.g., Small Business Economics, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Technology Transfer, Business Strategy and the Environment etc. The SDU TEI section is a highly international and interdisciplinary group of faculty members, with international students. The Post doc Position
This PhD position will be part of a granted EU-Interreg 6a project on cross-border student-company collaboration to strengthen entrepreneurial orientation and innovativeness of SMEs in the German-Danish border region. We expect the candidate to make a significant contribution to achieve the project goals with ample time for research related to the project. The research concept is under development with openness for a joint further development. Relevant approaches include: students’ and companies’ entrepreneurial orientation through student-company collaboration, collaborative entrepreneurial learning processes, transformation at SMEs for sustainability, knowledge transfer processes, or student teams’ personality fit in matching processes with SMEs.

We expect
A highly motivated and outgoing person who can work in an international, interdisciplinary team. The candidate must be a team player and at the same time able to work independently. The successful candidate is active in publishing in entrepreneurship / innovation management journals, will take an important role in the project, and will support teaching engineering students in our programmes “Engineering, Innovation, and Business”.

Requirements for applicants
Successful Post doc candidates drive internationally competitive research and contribute to provide outstanding education and supervision of students as well as supporting external research funding applications. The Post doc candidate must have completed a relevant PhD in entrepreneurship, innovation management or a related field. Under the direction of Associate Professors Silke Tegtmeier and Kari Kleine the candidate will be responsible for the implementation of the externally funded project ARTEMIS on fostering innovativeness at SMEs and the accompanying research.

Further requirements:

  • Knowledge and practical experience in data analysis and software for data analysis in quantitative or qualitative methods (such as STATA, NVIVO or similar), documented e.g., in earlier publications.
  • Excellent communication skills in English speaking and writing. Further, we expect the candidate to speak Danish, German, or both.
  • Experience working with industry and in project coordination is appreciated.

Conditions of employment
Employment as a postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level. Employment as a postdoc is temporary and will cease without further notice at the end of the period.

Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree. The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Please check links for more information on salary and taxation.

  • Documentation of other qualifications with relevance to the position.
