The position as Senior Downstream Scientist in Drug Substance Development at Symphogen is a unique possibility to play an important role in the CMC development of their antibody products.
The position requires expertise within late-stage development of therapeutic proteins downstream processes.
You will join the Drug Substance Development department currently consisting of 5 scientists and 5 technicians. They are dedicated to advancing the therapeutic candidates through pre-clinical and clinical development, and eventually into commercial readiness.
As Senior Downstream Scientist, you will enter a role with a high degree of cross-functional collaboration both with your colleagues in Denmark and in France, as well as external partners and CMOs. You will join a team that is responsible for process development of the downstream manufacturing processes.
With direct report to Team Manager of Drug Substance Development.
Your main tasks are:
Your qualifications are several years of hands-on experience from the pharmaceutical industry within development and late-stage process characterization of downstream biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes. Moreover, you have experience with risk-based process characterization/validation of biopharmaceutical products together with experience with regulatory documentation. You have experience with collaboration with CROs and CMOs and with GMP manufacturing. It is an advantage if you have experience with using DoE in process development and experience with virus clearance validation.
You have a relevant Master’s Degree within pharmaceuticals, biologics or similar.
You are a person who works independently, and you are a strong collaborator with a positive and enthusiastic mindset. You are structured in your approach to tasks, and you are skilled within project coordination.

- Inhouse process development and process characterization
- Defining the late-stage development platform and strategy for process validation
- Technical transfer to CMOs and oversight of outsourced activities
- Collaboration with Servier’s CMC Biologics facilities in France
- Contribute to the development strategy of the antibody products
