provide onshore staff with insightful dashboards and KPIs that generate extra value through data from the
ships. The long-term ambition is to create autonomous ships that are more fuel efficient and greener than
today’s vessels.
Your new role
As part of Wärtsilä's strategy, they are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to help execute their vision. Can
you help their customers benefit from the opportunities created by digitalization, automation and
autonomy? As a Senior Test Engineer, you will be challenged to head the development and execution of a
new test strategy for applications and secure such an implementation with the development organization.
This Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for running function and feature tests of their Platinum
automation system. This includes tests relevant for checking cyber security. The efficiency of the quality
assurance and testing efforts of their application relies heavily on “the way of working” in development.
Therefore, the test strategy will also cover relevant dependencies to the development environment (tools)
and processes (agile).
As a Senior Test Engineer, your collaborative and communicative attitude will enable you to best support
the business. It is also crucial that you enjoy a hands-on approach to your work, since you will play a
central role with implementing the test and development tools needed both for new and legacy systems.
What you'll need to succeed
Must have
• Experience with both functional and non-functional testing
• Experience of working with embedded devices and network technology
• Hands on experience with automated testing (unit-, system-, integration-, regression test)
• Experience with tools needed for running continuous delivery
• A good understanding how software interacts with the Microsoft Windows operating system
• An urge to achieve results
Nice to have
• An understanding of C++ or C# and an aptitude in Python/scripting language
• Some understanding of ship systems
• Interest and understanding of basic principles of cyber security
• ISTQB certified/trained
