On behalf of Wrist Ship Supply Recruit IT is looking looking for an experienced and customer centric Backend Engineer to join a newly established company – S2S.
Do you want to be a part of a digital start-up company where you get the opportunity to set the new digital standards in the maritime industry? S2S is a new digital market place in the maritime industry. The goal of S2S is to become a customer tailored digital marketplace that streamlines the way shipping companies get their ship supplies; it will span from contacting and procurement to payment and delivery. S2S aims to empower crews and purchasers as well as incentivize reliable suppliers.
S2S is part of Wrist Ship Supply Group, a world leader in the field of procuring and delivering supply to the maritime industry with a turnover in 2020 of more than DKK 4.3 billion. With reference to our Head of Engineering, you will become part of a strong team.
The position is based in Copenhagen.

The position is based in Copenhagen.
What you’ll do
- You will be part of a product team that has end-to-end ownership of the Starboard core platform
- You will collaborate closely with design, product, and your engineering teammates
- You will maintain and adapt a lightweight infrastructure setup with Azure, Docker and Terraform
- You will work with Kotlin and Spring Boot to build backend services
- You will configure/customise Spryker (eCommerce platform) to fit Starboard’s needs
- You will work on third-party integrations with shipping platforms
Requirements
- You have experience building and maintaining backend APIs in Kotlin, Java or PHP that are backed by relational databases
- You have experience working with Spring Boot (Java/Kotlin), Symfony/Laravel (PHP) or any other modern web framework providing REST/GraphQL APIs
- You have been a key contributor within a team environment, delivering high-quality backend services
- You have an emphasis on automated testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery
- You are curious, eager to learn and you seek feedback from your teammates
- You have experience with cloud computing platforms (GCP, AWS or Azure) and knowledge of managing infrastructure with code (like with Terraform)
- You have knowledge of architectural topics, such as event event-based systems, high availability and redundancy
- You are adaptable to change and keen to work in a dynamic environment helping to shape an early-stage product
- E-commerce experience
Nice to have
- Knowledge of application security and authentication
- Some experience building frontend applications with modern JavaScript frameworks
- Experience with eCommerce platforms (like Spryker)
